HEARING AIDS & OTOSCLEROSIS

If the patient refuses surgery in spite of being a suitable candidate for surgery, he should benefit from a properly fitted hearing aid. If the patient has otosclerosis and is not suitable for stapes surgery, occasionally the patient may benefit from a properly fitted aid. However, otosclerosis is a progressive disease, and worsening of the ear is to be expected. The rate of progress of disease cannot be predicted.
